Dr Kimberley Cunial is the Director and Principal Psychologist at Spring Psychology. She holds specialist endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist as well as an Educational & Developmental Psychologist; and is a Registered Teacher with experience teaching in Australia and internationally. Kimberley is also an approved Supervisor with the Australian Board of Psychology, providing supervision to colleagues, provisionally registered psychologists, as well as Registrars working towards specialist endorsement with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
Kimberley earned her Bachelor and Honours degrees in psychology, and a Master of Educational Psychology, from the University of Queensland; a Postgraduate Diploma of Education from the Queensland University of Technology; as well as a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Griffith University. She has well over 20 years of experience across hospital, community, university, school, and private practice settings. Kimberley enjoys research and writing, which has involved co-authoring two editions of a developmental psychology textbook and publishing a number of scholarly journal articles. She has also been interviewed by the media on topics particularly relevant to families as well as children and adolescents.
Kimberley works with all ages, including very young children through to the elderly, and a variety of presentations, drawing on multiple therapeutic approaches that may best fit with each client’s unique journey and goals. She enjoys working with a wide range of client needs, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, child & adolescent development, pregnancy counselling, parenting support, relationship difficulties, interpersonal skills, adjustment, grief, trauma, and self-esteem. Kimberley is particularly passionate about neurodiversity and especially Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (the focus of her PhD research).
Kimberley's work includes therapy with individuals, couples, and families, as well as assessment, training, and supervision. She takes a warm, empathic, and collaborative approach. Kimberley is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and a Fellow of both the College of Clinical Psychologists and the College of Educational & Developmental Psychologists. Kimberley is also a member of ICEEFT, after completing accredited training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Kimberley is an accredited provider of the Triple P Parenting and Circle of Security (attachment based) Parenting Programs.
